Doing my makeup, trying out new beauty trends and brands, perusing the aisles of Ulta, discovering a new holy grail product, and watching all the beauty vloggers on YouTube are all things I adore doing. On a daily level, though, I wear very little makeup because I can't be bothered to put on a full face of makeup on a regular basis. I also enjoy how taking all the stops for a special event makes it feel even more special.

We've all been there: running around our bathrooms getting ready for something with having only five minutes to put on cosmetics and get out the door. After years of texting "I'm about to leave!" while still in my robe, I've finally mastered the art of the five-minute cosmetic regimen.

Having a few products that you genuinely love and rely on is the key to applying your makeup in five minutes or less and yet looking professional. It took me a while to discover my favorite items and figure out which formula I needed and which could be ignored. Despite having a makeup collection that overflows its designated drawers, I still grab for the five basic products more than the others.

Here's what I do and how I use it in my five-minute daily routine:

1. Begin with a solid skincare routine.

Starting with a nice base is the most critical step in any makeup regimen. In this situation, make sure that you are doing your best to keep your skin beautiful, because the better your skin looks, the less make-up will make you feel full will be needed. Everyone's skincare routine is different, but mine includes a gentle cleanser, Thayer's Witch Hazel Toner, a moisturiser, and, at night, a face oil. Because foundation is probably my least favourite product to wear on my face, I want to avoid it whenever possible, and to do so, I want to keep my skin looking as natural as possible. Ladies, remember to remove your makeup before going to bed!

2. Conceal

Even when my complexion is at its best, there are always flaws, which is where a true HOLY-GRAIL concealer comes in handy (must hide those under-eye bags!). I've tried a lot of them over the years and have now discovered one that meets my needs. Because I dislike using foundation, I use a concealer that matches my skin tone rather than a lighter one that I would use if I were wearing foundation.

3. Setting powder

A nice setting powder is another way to avoid wearing foundation while still looking beautiful. It evens out the complexion and keeps the concealer in place all day. I prefer a translucent one, but if you want to add some colour to your face, you may pick a pigmented one.

4. A light bronzer (optional)

If I'm in a rush or just want to keep things simple, I won't use a bronzer. However, I believe that a little bronzer goes a long way. It can give your face more life and definition, prevent you from looking flat, and make you look like a bronzed goddess overall. It might just save you from appearing like a zombie on your first day back at work.

5. A brow pencil and a brow gel

Filling in your brows can really transform your appearance, and it's probably one of the most crucial elements in my own makeup regimen. There are so many brow products out there — pencils, gels, powders, and more from drugstore and high-end brands — that I understand how difficult it is to find one that works for you, but once you do, it will be WORTH IT. An eyebrow pencil and a clear brow gel are my favourites.

6. Eyelash curler + mascara of your choice

Last but not least, there are the eyelashes. There may be days when the only thing I do is apply mascara. Of course, there are a plethora of mascara options. I truly feel that you don't need to spend a lot of money to acquire a nice one here, because the drugstore options are fantastic! Also, don't undervalue the power of an eyelash curler. This is one part of my regimen where I like to mix things up and try new things all the time, although I do have a current favourite.
